Discover how The Address Collective, a luxury hotel group in Ireland, were empowered to implement impactful changes after completing our Sustainability Leaders Programme. We spoke to Wojtek Widuch, ESG Administrator, at the Address Collective to find out more.
In your own words, how would you describe your role?
As the ESG Administrator, I lead and manage the department of sustainability across our Irish and Scottish properties. I facilitate cross-departmental collaboration, maintain a streamlined channel of communication between staff and the board of directors, training the teams to uphold our value of sustainability, ensure guest engagement with the programme, report on our ESG practices, and ensure our ESG priorities are clearly communicated, actionable, and measurable.
What motivated you to undertake a programme at the Skillnet Climate Ready Academy?
I undertook the training to formalise and expand my understanding of sustainable leadership, building on the practical experience I’ve gained throughout my professional career. While our ESG strategy is well developed, I view continuous learning as essential to refining our approach.
How has this programme helped you in your career or daily work?
The course gave me space to reflect on the progress I’ve made in my current and previous sustainability roles, and to critically assess where different strategies and alternative action plans may have delivered greater impact. The open-discussion format of the programme was a key asset that allowed for rich peer-to-peer learning, exposing me to new approaches and ideas from various sectors that strengthened my own knowledge and understanding.
How has your organisation benefitted from the knowledge and skills you gained?
The training enabled me to take away a renewed perspective on sustainability and develop fresh and exciting ideas that would particularly improve the structure and communication of our existing ESG strategies tailored for staff and guests alike. By learning from both expert facilitators and fellow participants, I was able to identify practical adjustments – such as refining reporting methods and enhancing interdepartmental engagement – that will support greater alignment and accountability across our sustainability goals.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience?
The Academy’s interactive teaching style was both engaging and impactful. It created a supportive environment that encouraged knowledge-sharing among participants at varying stages of their sustainability journey. The expert-led sessions helped me critically evaluate our ESG efforts and identify realistic, incremental changes that could elevate their effectiveness.
