The Skillnet Climate Ready Academy is a strategic collaboration between Skillnet Ireland and 20FIFTY Partners. Established to empower Irish enterprise, the Academy builds the critical skills and capabilities businesses need to navigate and thrive within a rapidly changing global environment. We also work in partnership with government and enterprise agencies including IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.
The Academy unites the unique strengths of two industry leaders. As the national business support agency of the Irish Government, Skillnet Ireland partners with enterprise and academia to deliver upskilling that drives national competitiveness.
20FIFTY Partners specialise in the design and operation of applied sustainability programmes, enabling organisations to translate high-level climate ambition into practical, measurable action.
Collaboration is the cornerstone of our model. We integrate a network of industry stakeholders and public bodies to ensure our programmes remain aligned with national policy and real-world commercial needs.
We collaborate with higher education leaders, including the University of Limerick, to ensure our accredited programmes meet the highest academic and professional standards.
Leveraging dedicated research and development expertise, the Academy delivers forward-looking training focused on both climate mitigation and adaptation.
By continuously monitoring emerging risks, regulatory shifts, and market trends, we ensure Irish enterprises remain responsive, resilient, and competitive in an increasingly complex operating environment.
Our training programmes are a critical bridge between Ireland’s national climate ambitions and the operational reality of Irish Enterprise.
We build “adaptive capacity” by training leadership teams to identify and manage climate risk, safeguarding the economy – specifically, the 99.8% of enterprises that are SMEs – against environmental and economic volatility.
Building climate resilience now requires organisations to embrace the interconnected shift to a low-carbon economy and a more digital future, known as the twin transition. By combining sustainability leadership with digital innovation, businesses can better manage climate risk, improve efficiency, accelerate decarbonisation, and strengthen long-term resilience. Achieving this transformation requires new skills and capabilities.
A green skills shortage hinders Ireland’s transition to a sustainable economy. By building talent in a market where demand for green skills is growing twice as fast as the global average, we ensure Irish businesses remain competitive in international supply chains and attractive to future investment.
Businesses must take decisive action to reduce their environmental footprint and decarbonise their operations.
We help Irish businesses learn how to embed systems and practices that lower emissions, eliminate waste, and reduce their climate impact.
Businesses need to adapt and recognise climate risk in order to survive and thrive.
We help Irish businesses move from linear to system thinking, enabling them to anticipate and address risks, and build resilience.
