In your own words, how would you describe your role?

I’m a Project and Sustainability Engineer at KORE Insulation, based in Cavan, we deliver innovative products and services that enable modern methods of construction. I support engineering operations & technology implementation while advancing our energy and sustainability goals toward net zero by 2050. My work focuses on optimising energy use in line with ISO 50001, combining data and technology to drive sustainable manufacturing and reduce carbon impact.

What motivated you to undertake a programme at the Skillnet Climate Ready Academy?

I chose the training because it offered a well-structured and thoughtfully designed program that allowed me to effectively balance my work responsibilities with learning. I was particularly drawn to the variety of courses, especially those on sustainability, which align closely with my professional interests.

How has this programme helped you in your career or daily work?

The training significantly enhanced both my knowledge and practical skills, particularly in the areas of sustainability and energy efficiency. The expert-led sessions deepened my understanding of key concepts, while the course flexibility helped me stay consistent without disrupting my professional responsibilities. Overall, it boosted my confidence, broadened my perspective, and equipped me with tools I now use regularly in my role.

How has your organisation benefitted from the knowledge and skills you gained?

The structured format allowed me to apply what I was learning directly to my work, which improved my ability to contribute to ongoing projects more effectively.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience?

The teachers were very knowledgeable and incredibly supportive throughout the learning journey. It was a privilege to learn directly from industry experts who brought real-world insights to the training. One of the most valuable aspects was the opportunity to engage with fellow participants from senior roles across various sectors. This allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of different business models, challenges and strategic improvement approaches and added a practical dimension.
